You chose it: It worse when you confused. (sauce: http://www.slapusidethead.com/) |
Have you ever felt like you are in the wrong field, wrong career? Many of us feel like that especially when things go wrong within the workplace or when we are stressed. Well it all goes back to how you chose your career. Did you choose it because it has always been what you wanted to do or because you were forced to. Is it because it was a second choice or was it because you had no option but to study?
Some say a job is different from a career because, a career is the one that you studied for and a job is the work you do just to make a living, what do you say?
One may feel bored or feel like quitting their job because deep down they know that it is not what they wanted to do. The most downside about being in the wrong career is when you start showing. There are nurses for example who are supposed to take care of patients but do not exactly do that, they in fact treat them badly. There are cashiers who you can see right from their facial expression that even if you did not from buy from their shop it would not matter. Then you get to ask yourself why did he/she choose this career if he/she is going to be this rude. A pretend-smile will do!
You have to be careful because what you do in the company or for the company reflects the company’s image. Remember to communicate well at all times because you going to definitely need a reference once you move on.
There is a truck driver who made three accidents and got fired after the third incident, read more. There are so many famous people, so to speak who made bad publicity stunts or were rude to the media. Would you now say that being in a bad mood made you sarcastic or stubborn within your career? Do you take the blame to the customer and say “She’s the one who was ungrateful for my assistance.”Guidelines on choosing the right career
There is a bright side to being in the ‘supposedly’ wrong career though. You sometimes get to discover your inner-self. Something that you did not know existed in you. You end up discovering that this is actually what you want to do. You end up loving your job.
sometimes our plans dont go according to how we planned them... when i was in high school i wanted to be in the field of health thus i did science stream in grade 10 to 12... i applied in the university and wanted to be a social worker but i coulndnt make it and now am in the business world... i dont even know how to explain this:learning all sciences streams and then going to study public relations... and according to me its just trusting your self and believing that whatever comes into a problem i will over come it...

DeleteI do relate with you because I also did not think I would be studying what I am studying, my course has taught me a lot though and like it because it has wtiting which is one of my interests.
Deletei agree with you when you say' sometime the is a bright side when choosing a better career" because you may adopt but really sometimes people don't really know what they want to do that why they end up in a unhappy employment
ReplyDeleteYes, not knowing what to do is a problem but at the end of the day I think having a positive approach towards what you are doing does help as it may turn out that you get to like that career.
DeleteI also agree that a job is different from a career because you might choose a certain career and end up doing a different job.
ReplyDeleteI stand to disagree because your career is your job, if do not like your career that means you do not like you job, I do not see the difference. So how would you differintiate the two?
DeleteA job and a carrer are two different things. its better to follow your heart for the best career you have passion for no matter what it takes because its something you will do for nearly the rest of your life.
ReplyDeleteA job is indeed different from a career, I find that most people though get confused of what field to study in and they end up making wrong decisions. People should start thinking about what they trully want before actually stydying and some should just accept that these days its not about what you want to be but about what you can be.
ReplyDeleteI like the point that says these days it is not about what you want but what you can be. Thinking about what you want to study may take time but at the end of the day, it does save you a lot of time and money.
DeleteI think the reason people end up choosing wrong careers is because they listen to their heads and not their hearts and turning other people’s dreams into theirs. I mean if you’ve been living someone else’s dream, then take a good look at what’s really going on because tomorrow is for you and you won't be able to live with yourself. Career is different from a job because career is long-term goal but job is a short term goal. Job usually require special training whereas job is something you do for such a short period of time
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to live someone else's dream, that is why it is vital to remain your true self in every situation that you come across in life.
DeleteI think very many people forget that even on weekends you still represent your itemization. I've found that networking in PR happens primarily in our night life.
ReplyDeleteYho I think most of us go thru that once in a while yea,bt if one really wants to do smthing investigation helps a lot, finding much more abt wat u wanna do
ReplyDeleteInvestigating, researching, asking questions are all the fundamentals of gaining knowledge about something and eventually coming to a a dicision that you are asssertive about, this really helps indeed.
DeleteSome people lack to under that where ever they are those not change the fact they are still representing their organisation even if when they are on duties.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good point because some people do forget that they are still working, that they are still representing the company especially if they are still wearing the uniform, we have to bare in mind that even if we did not choose our career paths we still have to work on the jobs offered by them.
Deleteit is hard to find the right career path. some people follow the money and others follow the heart. finding the right career should be an art
ReplyDeleteWell said.
DeletePeople choose certain careers because they want money after studying and not because they love it. I think that this is also the reason why most people do not do well in their studies.
ReplyDeleteI do agree because the next thing is that people tend to focus on money and end up repeating modules or taking another course.
DeleteI have learned and realised that some do it by choice, some because of circumstances some because of money. It is however important to remember that your career is your job, it's what you do, and even if you did not choose it you have to remain positive because you are building a path towards your work experience and you are also representing your brand or an organisations brand.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Siyasanga, some just choose a career not because they love it but because it has a lot of many. Now if you don't have passion for what you do, there's no way you'll succeed.
ReplyDeleteWow a very nice blog I must I really like it, it is very informative and gets one to wonder. It is true when things go wrong we often feel that we are not in the right place but i think its normal to always feel a little bit of a challenge now and then. Some realise after the is been done because of lack of information. A very nice read.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your blog. I wondered if I want a job or a career. As you may know that the cost of living in South Africa is too high. People end up taking whatsoever that may come on their way.As for their career will disappear.
